Barry M Spring Gelly - Dragon(fruit?) & Greenberry

Barry M's Gelly polishes last year were really good, and I was quite excited to see that there are 4 new ones for spring, in nice springlike colours. I have two of them to show you today. These are Dragon or Dragonfruit (the bottle says Dragon, but everywhere I've seen online says Dragonfruit) and Greenberry.

I have a bit of a thing for pink and green together - either in pretty pastel shades or bright zingy ones. I just really like it. So I wore these two together.

I don't think the formula on these is as good as the earlier Gelly polishes. The pink especially was quite streaky, although they both were to a certain extent. This is three coats. I think perhaps I was using too thin a coat, which made it streaky and a bit lumpy in application. Maybe next time I need a thicker coat?  I do like the results, especially in the Greenberry, which is nice and zingy, but the application itself was a little disappointing.

I found that one nail peeled right off as well, after a day at work. I'm assuming it was because it was three coats plus a coat of Seche Vite. Next time I'll try one thicker coat and see what happens.

  1. It's a very dragonfruit-y colour, the pink, but a bit, I don't know. There's a million pink cremes out there, and if it doesn't have the great consistency & one coat cover that the first Gelly range had, it's just another pink. The green is cute though, I like that one.

    1. I know exactly what you mean. The pink has some shimmer in the bottle that looks quite nice, but it doesn't really translate to the nail. It's just a bit.. meh.

The green is nice, I think it's quite zingily nice. I might do something with it and white... maybe stripes, like PACERS!

  2. I really like these new colours from Barry M, the papaya (peachy coral) is my favourite so far. I agree with you about the application, they have all been quite streaky which I didn't find with the previous colours in this range. And my pink bottle also just says Dragon underneath - weird!

    1. Papaya is the only one I didn't get for some reason. I'm not a big fan of coral type colours. The application on these is really disappointing considering they market them as one coat, highly pigmented, high shine gloss etc when they just aren't. They're nice enough but.... well, meh.
