My First Stamping!

Stamping is something that so far I've never tried. Until now! I've never been particularly tempted, but then I found this kit in Poundland of all places! I think for a pound, it was worth the risk.

The stamper seems perfectly functional. The scraper is a bit uneven, I might ditch it and use an old credit card instead. There is only one plate, with a few flowers and a butterfly, a nice pretty starting point.

This is a trial run of one of the flower stamps over Barry M Greenberry.

I think for a first attempt this isn't bad! The pattern is a bit patchy on the first nail (maybe I scraped off too much) but it seems clear on the thumb. I don't think the contrast between the green and the white is strong enough though really - from a distance the flowers are really not that visible.  Still, for a start, I'm quite pleased.

  1. I'm with you- not a huge stamping fan either.
Try stamping with a holo polish over a creme. =)

  2. I got this from Poundland yesterday. Wasn't fussed about the plate but I have been looking for a plastic scraper for a while and it gives me a spare stamper.

    That's good for a first attempt. :-)

    1. Thanks! Yes, the plate is hardly exciting, but I thought it was a nice easy way to try it out without breaking the bank!

  3. That looks really good for a first attempt. I was gutted seeing this one in poundland after spending a fiver for konrad stamper and scraper.

    1. Thanks! Yeah, the Konad ones look really pricey...

  4. *plans trip to Poundland* I really like the way stamping is a neat and uniform. Amazed to read it's not fiddly. I'd always assumed it would be.

I'd like a stamp with a bucket truck on it tbh.

    1. No, it was definitely not particularly fiddly.

Shurrup with the bucket trucks! My blog is a BUCKET TRUCK FREE ZONE.

  5. Or if you're a bit less patient than you, you can buy the exact same kit in Savers (which is right next door to the Pound Shop here) for the princely sum of £3! Bugger.

The scraper is a bit rubbish, and the white polish they sell with it is useless, but the plate is nice for a trial go. I found that I was scraping of a bit too much too, it seems to be a bit of a learning curve.

    1. Having said that about the white, I'm not sure it's an identical kit, because I can't see a space for a bottle of crappy white polish on that shrink pack. It was the same plate, scraper & stamper though.

    2. £3? You was robbed! Lol. There was no polish with mine though.

  6. I thin you did well for a first try. A lot of it is down to the polish you use. I can really recommend the Barry M Foil Effects polishes - in gold or silver - they're fantastic for stamping.

    1. Thanks! I have both those, so I'll try them out.

  7. Great first try! I also second the Barry M Foil Effects. Got my sister-in-law to bring them back from Ireland for me :)

I also found that Konad polishes worked best for me. Lots of people say such and such non-stamping polishes work for stamping, but they didn't for me.

    1. Thanks! Yes, my little trial runs are showing that the Barry M foils are looking really promising! I need to have a play this weekend.
