I was lucky enough to get Wimbledon Centre Court tickets in the draw this year, so yesterday my mother and I were watching tennis all day. We had two fabulous matches! And some really good fish and chips. I'm home now, so I've done Wimbledon nails to go with my mini tennis ball. I decided not to do grass or nets this year, and went with the Wimbledon colours of purple and green instead.
This is Models Own Pukka Purple, and Barry M Watermelon, done as a fifty/fifty using tape. I then added white striping tape.
I used my stupid broken short nail as an excuse to make a fuzzy tennis ball as an accent. This was Models Own Bikini with flocking powder dusted over before the polish dried.
I like these! Nothing too elaborate or complicated, but is clearly Wimbledon.

Wimbledon Nails!
I've been off work sick the last couple of days, so I have mostly been lying on the settee feeling sorry for myself and alternating between dozing and watching Wimbledon. Last year I did quite basic tennis nails, but this year I went a bit mad with the striping tape and got this:

This is meant to be a representation of the net! I just realised though that the net strings are actually black in real life, and they aren't on a diagonal... but hey.

This is two coats of Essie Blanc on my fingers, and two coats of Barry M Yellow on my thumb. I then added yellow sparkly flocking powder to my thumb for the tennis ball. Then I taped off my nails using striping tape in a criss cross pattern, and a wider strip of tape over the tip, and went over that with Barry M Spring Green, which is my go-to grass colour. After removing the tape and letting it dry, I covered the pattern with topcoat.

Flocked Nails Skittle
I haven't used my flocking powders in an age! In fact not since I used the yellow to make a tennis ball nail back during last year's Wimbledon. Today I've made a skittle using 5 of my flocking powders and co-ordingating bright polishes. It was prompted by Robyn Munro from Diary of a Disney Diva (you should totally check out her blog by the way!)
Left to right there's Barry M Cyan Blue, China Glaze Def Defying, Missguided Missmatch, Avon Viva Pink and Barry M Yellow.
This flocking powder came in a set of 6 from Hobbycraft for less than a fiver - I can't remember the exact price. It's not as furry as some of the flocked nails I've seen around, but I like how it feels, it's all fuzzy!
I also really like that this powder is sparkly!

Game, Set, Match! Tennis Nails!
I bought a set of flocking powders a month or two ago, but never got round to using them. There are six colours of sparkly powder (pale pink, blue, yellow, green, orange and bright pink) for about £5 from Hobbycraft.

I'm kicking myself that I didn't get better photos of these. I painted them last night, and then added the flocking this morning before I left for work. I snapped this pic in my car outside the office, without seeing the horrendously dry state of my cuticles.

Then by the time I got home, the nice fluffy yellow was a bit manky, and the green was peeling a bit round the edges. I'm assuming that this was due to the multiple layers.

I have two coats of white creme (Models Own Pro French White) and then Barry M Spring Green and Barry M Bright Yellow. The yellow nail is then covered in flocking powder.
I think the idea was better than the execution, but hey, who cares?
I will be cheering on Federer on Sunday. C'mon Rog!
