Pink Dots

I liked my rainbow dots (see here!) so much that I did more dots for today's nails.

This is a base of Barry M Truffle. I then dotted across the middle section of the nails using Models Own Sunhat, Shades, and Diamond Luxe Radiant Pink, and Barry M Rose Hip. I added topcoat once everything was dry.

I love the contrast of the bright, zingy pinks with the neutral base.

I'm addicted to dots at the moment!

Autumnal Stamping with Barry M Gelly

I bought this stamping plate some time ago, but was waiting to use it because it seems really autumnal to me! It's MoYou London Mother Nature 09, which you can see in full here.  I really love the ears of corn and wheat design.

I started with a base of Barry M Truffle, from the Silks collection. I then stamped using a variety of the new Autumn Gelly colours Mustard, Paprika and Cocoa.

This didn't turn out quite how I'd hoped, although I do really like how the thumbnail looks!

The middle finger especially came out messier and less distinct than I wanted.

I do really like how good the Gelly range is for stamping though. They're thick and highly pigmented and carry a design really well.
I'll have to try using this plate again another time and see if I can get the end result more how it was in my head. In the meantime, I quite like bits of this...

Beach Gradient Sand Mani!

The other week, after a particularly difficult few days at work, I took an impromptu day off (I had to use up one more day of annual leave before the end of the academic year) and went to the seaside! I'm not a fan of traditional beaches and sitting around sunbathing - I prefer wild beaches with long walks, that sort of thing. I went to Gibraltar Point near Skegness,  walked for quite a long time and had a small picnic.  Whilst there, I kept looking at the sky and sand and thinking about a nail design...

I also lay in the dunes for a bit and dozed, and started thinking about how pretty the sand was, and about 'liquid sand' nail varnish, and wondered what sand would look like on nails. I took a handful of sand home with me in a pocket, and today, this is what I've made.

This is Barry M Huckleberry and Vanilla, made into a gradient. On my ring finger, I painted a coat of Vanilla and then dipped my nail into the sand.

In the end, the gradient doesn't actually look much like the actual sand/sky on the day, but I still like it. I think pale blue and pale brown go really well together. And while it isn't as sparkly as I'd hoped, I do like the way the sand looks. I hadn't really realised how many colours there are in sand!

The sand felt really secure, and I'm pretty confident it would have held up for a day on my nails, but I decided to add topcoat, hoping it would making it really shiny.

I was a bit disappointed with this though - it does look like wet sand, but it's less shiny rather than more shiny, and it looks a bit muddy. Oh well, it was a fun experiment!

Doctor Who Ring! And Fifth Doctor Nails!

I don't know how I've managed this, but somehow I have NEVER posted any Doctor Who nails! This is despite the fact that I am a fan (especially of classic 'old' Who) and that I have definitely done Who nails on more than one occasion. So now I'm remedying that.

I bought this ring from the Born Pretty Store recently - it's described as "Question Mark Shaped Ring", but we all know that means DOCTOR WHO!  It's only $1.59 too, which puts even Claire's Accessories to shame (and I love their cheapy jewellery!)

To go with this, I did nails inspired by my favourite Doctor - the Fifth. I love him LOTS. He had a lovely crickety outfit with lots of beige, and I ADORED him.  (Photo: BBC)

This is a base of Barry M Pearl (the white one from the Silk range), with stripes made using striping tape and Barry M Truffle and Crush - these are Five's trousers. For the accent nail, I used a base of Pearl, which I taped off and then added Essie Allure for his jumper. I used a Barry M nail art pen in black, and Crush again (with a striping brush) for the jumper details. I then added a matte topcoat.

While I know these aren't perfect, I'm pretty happy with them - I've been wanting to do Fifth Doctor nails for quite a long time and now I have, so I'm happy. And I LOVE this ring! It's really cute, and feels nice and solid too, so I'll definitely get some wear out of it.

Gingham Lace & Bows - BPS Water Decals + Jacava Blackberry Fool

As you may know, I love a water decal, and I love gingham! Today I have some gingham water decals from the Born Pretty Store, and a new polish by Jacava.

I have three sets of these decals - a blue set, a black set, and today's pink and red set. These are item # 7644 at Born Pretty Store, and cost $2.99 for one or $5.99 for all three colours. There are plain gingham strips, lacy gingham strips, as well as some contrasting bows and a couple of roses.  (You may notice that the corner of the black set is missing - I used it in this mani the other day!)

Just before Christmas, I bought three new polishes in the Jacava sale; this is the first one, Blackberry Fool, a lovely rich pink creme.  Application and formula is beautiful - the quality is superb as usual with Jacava.  This is a lovely colour on its own, but I decided to combine it with Barry M Vanilla on three fingers, and the decals.

I love these decals! There are so many different ways you could use them, from a full mani to an accent nail, just bows, or just gingham... I did both hands the same, and have only used about a third of the red/pink pack, so there are lots more manis in there!

My BPS discount code is still valid, and you can use it multiple times.

I received these decals for review purposes, but words and opinions are entirely my own. I do not receive anything if you use my discount code, although when it's been used ten times, BPS will let me host a giveaway for my readers! See my Disclosure page for more details.  I bought the polishes myself.
